Our Responsibilities
The Board is responsible for seven key areas of school governance:
Developing and regularly reviewing the school's Strategic Plan.
Monitoring and evaluating school progress.
Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive policy framework.
Employing and supporting the Principal.
Managing school assets and property.
Ensuring full legal compliance.
Implementing the National Education and Learning Priorities (NELP).
Board members receive governance resources, employment tools, and professional development opportunities through the New Zealand School Boards Association – Te Whakarōputanga.
Nine Board hui are scheduled for 2026. These are held from 3:30pm to 5:30pm in the Whānau Centre (please use the Ferguson Street entrance).
Members of our community are welcome to attend, observe, and take notes. If you are a manuhiri and wish to speak during the meeting, you must request 'speaking rights' in advance. Please email our Presiding Member, Salainaoloa Wilson-Uili, at salainaoloaw@meps.school.nz to arrange this.

To ensure transparency and safety within our kura, staff members who are formally 'authorised' to use physical restraint are highlighted in light blue on our Our People page.
