Whakatipu Akoranga is a cluster of 6 schools in Māngere with significant Pacific and Māori populations. We have 2 Learning Support Coordinator positions, and this advertisement is for 1 of them. The successful applicant will be based at Robertson Road Primary School, though will work at the other schools as required.
The purpose of the Learning Support Coordinator role is to help children with diverse learning needs access the support and services they need, in ways that recognise their identity, language, and culture. The Learning Support Coordinator will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, including staff, students, whānau, LSCs, SENCOs within our Cluster, and external agencies. The successful applicant should be knowledgeable about and committed to inclusive practices and have demonstrated the ability to support the learning and progress of all learners as they transition in, through, and out of schools.
To be considered for the role, the successful applicant must meet all the criteria of the LSC role description. Ideally, they should also have expertise, skills, or knowledge in some of the following areas: special education, curriculum Level 1, cultural perspectives on gifted and talented, and transition processes. Being a speaker of reo Māori, reo Māori Kūki 'Āirani, Tokelauan, Niuean, Samoan, Tongan, Hindi or Urdu is an added advantage.
