Position Starts: ASAP - following a successful interview, satisfactory reference checks and police vet.
Fixed Term, Part-time: 3.5 hours per day (Term time only)
Pay: Scale starts at $26.59 per hour
Are you patient, kind, and passionate about making a difference for children with extra needs? We are looking for a dedicated Learning Assistant to join our team in 2026.
In this role, you will work closely with students who have diverse learning, social and behaviour needs. You will help them engage in their learning, manage their emotions, and navigate the school day safely.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing 1-on-1 and small group support for students with diverse learning needs.
Assisting with student wellbeing and engagement in classroom and possibly playground activities.
Some of our students require support with toileting and personal hygiene. We are looking for someone who can handle these tasks with dignity, respect, and a "can-do" attitude. There is an additional allowance if you are required to do this.
The Ideal Candidate:
Has experience working with children (experience with neurodiversity is a plus!).
Is a great communicator and a team player (you'll work closely with teachers and whānau).
Is physically active, patient, has a sense of humour and can remain calm under pressure.
Understands the importance of our inclusive school culture.
